Acquisition of knowledge about urinary tract anatomy, diagnostics of complications of gynecologic malignancies in urinary tract, intraoperative diagnostics of urinary tract lesions and their removal.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Effect of oncogynecologic disease and its treatment on urinary tract (cancer evasion in urinary tract organs, complications of radical surgical and radiation therapy treatment).

Skills

1.Options to avoiding urologic complications, ability to identify and treat urologic complications. Ability to discuss with patients and their relatives the course of oncogynecologic disease and its treatment effects on urinary system (fistula, stricture, disturbed bladder function). Ability to interpret investigations. Ability to recognize and treat urinaru tract injuries. Ability to select patients for urinary tract surgical manipulations (ureter stent placement, fistula treatment, pelvic exenteration). pre- and post-operative patient care after urinary tract surgical manipulations. Differential diagnostics of urinary tract malignancies.

Competence

1.Ability to investigate and diagnose a urinary tract lesion in an oncogynecologic patient. Preoperative investigation and cooperation with urologists. Investigations: urine analysis (microscopic and biochemical examination), blood analysis, ultrasonography, x-ray, MRI, cystoscopy, ureteroscopy. Understanding the formation of ureter and bladder lesions (fistula, stricture, surgical injury) caused by the disease or surgical treatment. Ability to perform cystoscopy, bladder suturing, ureter dissection. If necessary and with the help of urologists, ability to perform ureteroscopy, ureter stent placement, ureter injury suturing, cystectomy, continent urinary diversion. Ability to analyse results and complications of investigation and treatment, provide evidence based investigation and treatment strategy for an oncogynecologic patient with urinary tract complications.
