About Study Course
Objective
Provide theoretical knowledge and develop practical skills in accordance with specialty Otolaryngology to prepare resident doctors for the State Exam in Otolaryngology as stated in Regulations of the Republic of Latvia.
Learning outcomes
1.The resident must demonstrate and be able to apply knowledge in the anatomy, physiology, pathology and pathological physiology of the relevant area and understanding of the theoretical knowledge of ENT diseases, as well as in the interpretation of examinations in the specialty, in order to perform the professional functions of a highly qualified specialist in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care of diseases.
1.The resident must understand the interpretation of examinations in the specialty, must be familiar with all diagnostic and therapeutic (surgical and non-surgical) manipulations related to the specialty. Independently formulate and critically analyze complex ENT problems, critically evaluate research in the field of medical science, perform the necessary additional analysis if necessary to substantiate decisions; the knowledge of different medical fields should be integrated; must gather experience, contribute to the creation of new knowledge, development of research or specialist's professional activity methods.
1.The resident must be oriented in all diagnostic and therapeutic (surgical and non-surgical) manipulations related to the specialty. Based on knowledge, experience, skills - in diagnostic procedures, non-surgical manipulations, surgical treatment; it is all that every practitioner in the European Union needs to know, gradually increasing clinical responsibility and expanding surgical skills to provide medical care to the standards of an otolaryngologist. One must plan and organize the improvement and development of one's professional competence as a medical specialist; take responsibility for the work results of personnel groups and their analysis; must be able to conduct business, innovations in the operation of the relevant medical specialty; must be able to provide emergency medical aid, be able to perform work in difficult and unpredictable conditions and, if necessary, transform them using new opportunities.
