About Study Course
Objective
To provide residents with comprehensive knowledge and skills regarding patient preparation and evaluation before surgery, patient care during surgery and in the postoperative period.
Learning outcomes
1.By completing this course, the medical resident acquires knowledge about the possible impact of the application of invasive radiology methods on the patient’s health, will be able to define indications and contraindications for invasive manipulations, determination of indications for conservative and surgical treatment, prevention, follow-up after treatment, and rehabilitation. Will be able to adequately monitor vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, etc.), recognise fluctuations therein and clinical manifestations. Will know the impact of ionising radiation on the health of patients and medical personnel, as well as the importance of using protective equipment.
The medical resident will revise the knowledge about infectious pathogens (viral hepatitis, HIV, MRSA, etc.), routes of infection and the basic principles of transmission reduction, the use of personal protective equipment, and the disposal of sharp objects in designated areas.
1.During the course, practical skills are acquired in taking medical history, evaluating and processing images of radiological examinations, interpreting the results of laboratory examinations. The medical resident will be able to monitor the patient’s vital signs perioperatively, properly communicate with the patient’s relatives and attending physicians.
1.After completing the course, the medical resident will be able to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills to modify drug therapy according to the needs of invasive manipulation.
The medical resident will be able to recognise and act appropriately in the treatment of complications of invasive manipulations:
• Hypersensitivity to contrast medium
• Pain, nausea, vomiting
• Insufficient oxygen saturation in the blood
• Arrhythmia, cardiac arrest
• Sepsis
• Hypertension, hypotension
• Glycemic fluctuations
• Haemorrhage, haematoma
• Post-embolisation syndrome
• Pseudoaneurysms
