Objective

Provide knowledge of novelties in the use of operational measures in the areas of human trafficking, tax evasion, money laundering or cybercrime.

Prerequisites

Criminal Process, Criminal Law, Legal Order of Operational Activities in Latvia and Abroad, Legal Institutions, Criminalistics (tactics and methodology for investigating individual criminal offences).

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Students gain knowledge of current developments in the use of operational measures in the areas of human trafficking, tax evasion, money laundering or cybercrime, as well as of the most common errors in the collection, processing and use of operational information in the process of operational activity and criminal procedure.

Skills

1.Students have understanding of the necessary evidence base and the role of operational measures in identification of the sources of evidence. They are able to apply the acquired knowledge in practical work, to recognise risk factors that may lead to unjustified violation of the person’s rights.

Competence

1.Ability to assess the operational situation and the use of relevant operational measures according to the type and circumstances of the criminal offence.
