Peripheral Artery Diseases (RIR_021)
About Study Course
Objective
To ensure acquisition of theoretical and practical skills in peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Diagnostic methods and treatment.
Learning outcomes
1.Upon completion of this course, the resident acquires theoretical knowledge of PAD etiology, risk factors, clinical and radiological picture, and treatment strategies. The resident will be able to describe examination algorithms for patients with acute and chronic ischemia, diabetic foot, critical ischemia and claudication, femoral artery pulse deficiency, arterial shunts and stents, vascular trauma, compression syndromes, CM contraindications, describe the radiological features of vasospasm.
1.During the course, practical skills in the diagnosis and treatment of PAD are acquired. The resident will be able to determine the ankle-brachial index, measure and interpret TcPo2, perform ultrasonography examinations and interpret magnetic resonance, computed tomography angiography findings, perform image post-processing. The resident will be able to correctly choose the puncture site, perform arterial puncture, cross stenosis sites with selective catheters and guidewires, perform recanalization of occlusions, balloon angioplasty and stent placement, mechanical thrombectomy and percutaneous aspiration, treatment of complications.
1.At the end of the course, the resident will be able to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills to diagnose and treat peripheral arterial diseases, their complications, use gadolinium, CO2 and iodine-containing contrast agents.
