About Study Course
Objective
The aim of the study course is to develop for students a scientifically sound and critical understanding of personality and individual differences as one of the basic disciplines of psychology by introducing key personality theories, temperament models, personality dimension models, intelligence and ability models, biological, genetic, cognitive, social and cultural basics of individual differences, as well as approaches to research and evaluation of personality and individual differences. The course develops the ability to analyze, compare and reasonably interpret personality psychology theories and empirical research, explaining individual differences in human behavior, functioning and adaptation.
Prerequisites
There is no need for foreknowledge.
Learning outcomes
1.Explains the subject matter of personality psychology and individual differences in the structure of psychology, the place in the structure of psychology science and their importance in understanding human behaviour and functioning.
1.Analyse scientific texts in personality psychology and individual difference psychology, identifying the purpose, theoretical approach, methods and key conclusions of the study.
1.A reasoned distinction is made between scientifically sound explanations of personality and individual differences and popular psychological and non-scientific concepts.
