Objective

According to the needs of the specialty to be studied, to promote students' ability to orient themselves in the pharmacotherapy of the most important groups of medicines and the most common chronic diseases and acute conditions. To provide knowledge about the most characteristic side effects and contraindications, taking into account the choice of the method of administration. 

Prerequisites

Anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and histology, pathology.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Students will be able to describe the effect of drugs on organ system functions, will be able to define the basic indications, most common side effects and contraindications.

Skills

1.Be able to classify medicines according to their use in the treatment of chronic diagnoses, acute illnesses or emergency conditions.

Competence

1.Will be able to analyse the medicines indicated in the anamnesis and orders according to the expected clinical effect, will be able to assess their therapeutic effectiveness and the development of side effects in the work environment.
