Objective

To deepen theoretical knowledge and integrate the latest scientific findings related to physiotherapy options for patients with oncological diseases. To develop clinical reasoning skills and rehabilitation problem solving in the context of physiotherapy for patients with oncological diseases at different stages of treatment.

Prerequisites

Knowledge and skills acquired for the professional qualification of physiotherapist and the Bachelor’s degree in health care.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Describes current conceptual physiotherapy models and scientific evidence for patients with oncological diseases. Compares the benefits, limitations and scientific evidence of effectiveness of different physiotherapy assessment and treatment technologies for patients with oncological diseases and associated functional limitations.

Skills

Integrates the latest findings and scientific evidence into clinical reasoning and decision-making for patients with oncological disease-related functional limitations. Recognises and analyses contextual factors, their impact and integrates the finding into the decision-making process. Plans the range of physiotherapy services in case of functional limitations caused by oncological diseases, in order to achieve therapeutic goals and adapt to the patient’s changing needs.

Competence

Combines experience, knowledge and scientific evidence in clinical reasoning and decision-making in the provision of physiotherapy for patients with oncological diseases. Plans and manages physiotherapy services for patients with oncological diseases in different organisational models, building interdisciplinary cooperation within health care, social services and patient organisations.
