About Study Course
Objective
In practice, provide an opportunity for students to improve their skills and competences, in accordance with the standard of the midwife profession, by ensuring the management and care of physiological pregnancies.
Prerequisites
Anatomy, functional and pathological physiology, physiological pregnancy management, gynaecology and healthy women’s care and nutrition, interpersonal contact in healthcare, public health and epidemiology, basics of clinical care and clinical care in obstetrics and gynaecology, methods for assessing fetal well-being.
Learning outcomes
1.The student will recognize the signs indicating pregnancy and name the laboratory diagnostic methods of pregnancy, be able to determine the time of pregnancy and possible term of delivery, formulate the importance of identifying a timely maternal risk group, name prenatal diagnostic methods, and explain the necessity of applying these methods.
1.The student will be able to evaluate complaints of a pregnant woman, collect reproductive history, calculate body mass index and measure AT, perform gynaecological examination, take a bactericopic smear of cytological and vaginal flora, use an indicator strip test for urine analysis, determine fetal sleep with Leopold techniques, prepare documentation in accordance with the laws and regulations regarding the procedures for recording medical and accounting records of medical institutions, explain ultrasound and various biochemical markers data, determine the time period for possible delivery, use the terms adopted in the care of pregnant women, assess the nature of fetal movements and the record of fetal hearts.
1.Using the acquired knowledge of physiological pregnancy management, the student is able to recognise physiologically occurring pregnancies, evaluate diagnostic results, recognise potential risk factors and complications, in accordance with the Cabinet Regulations NR. 611 and to document the data obtained, as well as to collaborate on the work of a team of healthcare specialists.
