About Study Course
Objective
Provide postgraduates with knowledge, develop their skills and competence in order to enable them to provide a patient-specific approach in the treatment of oral diseases, assessing risk and etiological factors of dental caries and periodontal diseases; to establish and provide a patient-specific treatment plan.
Learning outcomes
1.Etiological and risk factors of dental caries, their indicators will be identified, relevant terms will be explained.
A caries risk assessment process will be described.
Caries diagnostic methods will be described and compared.
Caries treatment methods will be classified and described.
1.Caries will be diagnosed with different methods, combining them with each other and synthesizing the obtained results; will be able to make a diagnosis by evaluating different stages of caries development and activity.
The patient will be surveyed and auxiliary diagnostic methods will be used (saliva tests, plaque assessment, gum health examination, dental hard tissue pathology assessment) in order to find out the risk factors for diseases.
The risk of caries and periodontal disease will be determined by various methods.
Caries and other dental hard tissue pathologies will be differentiated.
An appropriate and individualized caries treatment plan will be drawn up, including non-invasive, minimally invasive and invasive caries treatment methods.
Will communicate the obtained results of the investigation and the course of treatment with the patient
CLINICAL SKILLS:
Diagnostics of caries by visual method, X-ray, with fiberoptic transillumination and laser fluorescence method. Performing and analyzing saliva tests. Determination of caries risk by different methods. Creation of an individualized treatment plan
1.Postgraduates will be able to assess the necessity of application of different dental caries treatment methods in a patient-specific manner; they will be able to follow up the scientific information on the current use of caries curative agents and rational use of existing methods.
