Objective

Mastering the theoretical and practical foundations of self-defence in sports science.

Prerequisites

General education study courses – gymnastics, acrobatics, sports training theory, general pedagogy and general psychology, physiology, first aid, etc.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Grades 1-3
• knowledge of compliance with safety and rules during self-defence classes;
Grades 4-6
• knowledge of compliance with safety and rules, observing injury prevention;
Grades 7-12
• knowledge of the impact of self-defence elements on fitness, improvement of morals, as well as responsibility under the criminal law.

Skills

1.Grades 1-3
• safe self-defence postures and movements using movement games;
• acrobatic techniques – front, back, right and left side shoulder somersaults;
• cannon-ball, when falling, falling backwards and sideways.
Grades 4-6
• skills to recognise a situation for the use of self-defence techniques using the appropriate posture, movement strategy and technique;
• falls from different positions on different parts of the body – forward, forward sideways, backward, sideways;
• skill to defend against blows and kicks.
Grades 7-12
• knows how to avoid and get out of opponent’s holds, grasps and strangle holds, as well as using throws.

Competence

1.Grades 1-3
• purposefully learns safe self-defence posture, movement and cannon-ball;
Grades 4-6
• recognises a situation for the use of self-defence techniques, uses appropriate posture, performs falls from different positions on different parts of the body, knows how to defend against blows and kicks;
Grades 7-12
• critically evaluates the situation and, using self-defence techniques, avoids and gets out of opponent’s holds and grasps, throws and strangle holds;
• competence to develop a self-defence techniques teaching plan according to the standard of primary, school and secondary education.
