Study course description
Preliminary Knowledge:
Having completed a) two elective Latvian courses; or b) one elective Latvian course and the 5th semester's mandatory course in Latvian.
Objective:
To learn topical vocabulary and deepen conversation skills necessary to interview a patient efficiently: family anamnesis, examinations, orders and recommendations to a patient; grammatically precise speech.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Individual work – memorizing listed vocabulary of the corresponding topic.
Assessment Criteria:
At the end of each semester – an oral test on the topics covered during the semester: a conversation with a patient according to a given pattern. The final grade consists of the 1st-semester test results (50%) and 2nd-semester exam results (50%). At the end of the course, every student must fill the course evaluation survey.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:On successful completion of the course students will be able to use lexical and grammatical means of language to collect anamnesis and instruct patients.
Skills:On successful completion of the course students will be able to formulate questions in Latvian about family anamnesis and grasp the point of the answer, as well as give orders to the patient.
Competencies:On successful completion of the course students will be able to use the skills they gained in their previous Latvian courses to interview patients about their complaints and anamnesis in detail, as well as to inform patients about the treatment plan.
