This lecture is ideal for formulation scientists, industrial pharmacists, and researchers seeking deeper mechanistic understanding of drug delivery systems. With his long-standing experience supervising PhD candidates, mentoring international researchers, and serving as referee for leading journals such as Journal of Controlled Release and International Journal of Pharmaceutics, Dr. Dashevskiy offers a uniquely integrative perspective. 

Attendees will leave with practical insights that can strengthen formulation design, improve product robustness, and inspire innovative approaches to drug delivery.

With more than three decades of research and teaching experience at the Freie Universität Berlin, pharmaceutical scientist, Dr. Andriy Dashevskiy, is internationally recognized for his contributions to development of controlled drug delivery systems. His work spans oral pulsatile and gastroretentive dosage forms, multiparticulate technologies, microencapsulation, advanced coating processes, parenteral implants and other advanced approaches.
In this invited lecture, Dr. Dashevskiy will guide the audience into the realm of unexpected formulation behaviour, revealing how subtle technological choices can lead to surprising and sometimes counterintuitive outcomes in drug release.

The presentation will explore several phenomena that challenge conventional assumptions in pharmaceutical technology. These include the unusual impact of superdisintegrant placement (extra  vs intragranular), frequent misinterpretations of release mechanisms in multiparticulate systems, and the rarely discussed “curing effect” observed in coated dosage forms.

Dr. Dashevskiy will also present new insights into press coated tablets, demonstrating how drug solubility can influence release kinetics in ways that defy textbook expectations. Drawing on his extensive publication record including patents —he will connect these observations to real formulation challenges encountered in both academic and industrial settings.
