On March 1st 2022, the Latvian Government approved the Latvian Open Science Strategy 2021-2027. The strategy aims to provide society, researchers, businesses, policymakers, and other stakeholders with freely accessible scientific information (including scientific publications and research data) and promote meaningful societal engagement in the scientific research process.

The Open Science Strategy is structured around three pillars:

  1. Open access publications;
  2. FAIR research data;
  3. Citizen Science.

The first seminar will take place on Wednesday, 13 April.

In this seminar series we will focus on those aspects that have a direct impact on the work of researchers, specifically on strategies for generating an appropriate data management plan and how to implement FAIR principles in the planning, execution, and dissemination of research.

Contents of the first seminar

Module 1: Introduction to Research Data Management

At the end of this section, the participant can...

  • Understand the importance and benefits of managing research data
  • Know how the main actors within research data management (RDM) can affect research
  • Identify different types of research data in various disciplines
  • Realize what RDM entails when looking at the Research Data Lifecycle
  • Recognize the existing Latvian legislation on research data management
