Green Hexagon
The Green Hexagon pre-incubation programme is designed to address six development aspects: growth, skills, cooperation, business, innovation, and the environment and climate.
These six aspects directly align with the priorities chosen for the project: promoting innovative teaching and learning practices, recognizing excellence in teaching, studies, and skills development, with a particular focus on environmental, sustainability, and climate change issues. It is an opportunity for students to develop entrepreneurial skills and build new connections with young people and innovators beyond Latvia.
The programme includes Rīgas Stradiņa universitāte (Latvia), Latvijas Universitāte (Latvia), Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague (Czechia), University of Tartu (Estonia), Flensburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany), and University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt (Austria).
Participation in the programme
Green Hexagon is a 4-month online programme that provides support for developing student business ideas, offering guidance from international experts and mentors.
The programme is designed for teams that have new ideas or are in the early stages of idea development. Applications may be submitted individually or as a team (up to 5 people). Please note that the programme will begin with an idea-generation and team-formation event. Students applying individually will have the chance to find team members at this event.
If you apply individually, you must be a student, graduate, researcher, or employee of one of the universities involved in the project. If you apply as a team, at least half of the team members must come from one of these universities, while the rest may be students, graduates, or employees from other higher education institutions.
Sustainability
The goal of the Green Hexagon programme is to develop meaningful and sustainable ideas for future start-ups. To participate in the programme, you need a business idea that supports sustainability and includes its aspects, such as improving quality of life, using ecological materials, material recycling, or similar.
The idea may also be based on one of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Activities
During the Green Hexagon programme, participants will explore topics such as market research, business and financial models, marketing, product or service design, and presentation skills under the guidance of experienced lecturers. The programme will also include several networking and mentoring events, offering participants the chance to gain experience from international mentors and experts and to network with teams from other participating countries.
At the end of the programme, teams will pitch their business ideas to a jury, which will provide feedback, select favourites, and award grants for the development of the best ideas. The Green Hexagon programme will take place online for four months, from February to June.
As part of the programme, a mobility week will also be organised within the ERASMUS+ blended intensive programme.

From May 18 to May 22, programme participants (students) will have the opportunity to travel to Austria’s capital, Vienna, where one of the project partners – University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt – will organise networking events and sessions on marketing, sales, and teamwork. Participants will also have the chance to visit the ViennaUP start-up festival.
Within the ERASMUS+ blended intensive programme, travel and accommodation in Vienna will be covered for participants. Detailed information about the mobility arrangements will be provided after the programme begins.
