About Study Course
Objective
To promote the acquisition of knowledge of the effects of massage on the human body; develop skills (practical skills) in palpation, patient soft tissue status assessment, and use of massage techniques (technical performance: directions, area cover, symmetry, depth of operation) by massaging specific body parts for preventive and/or therapeutic purposes.
Prerequisites
Anatomy, physiology and kinesiology as part of the study course.
Learning outcomes
1.As a result of successfully completing the study course, the student will know:
the physiological effect of the massage, the application to the correction of functional disorders;
indications, contraindications and specificities of application of different massage techniques and body area massage;
model (patient) positioning basics
1.As a result of successfully completing the study course, the student will be able to:
position the model;
apply palpation to determine the boundaries of the area to be massaged and assess the condition of the patient’s soft tissues;
select and apply massage techniques appropriate to the patient’s functional condition and therapeutic purposes.
1.As a result of the successful completion of the study course, the student will be able to make practical use of the acquired knowledge and skills by massaging to achieve a specific objective.
