EATRIS Seminar “Lost in Translation? Why Biomarker Discoveries Rarely Reach Patients” to Take Place at RSU
On 7 October 2026, Rīga Stradiņš University will host a seminar organised by EATRIS Latvia and RSU, Lost in Translation? Why Biomarker Discoveries Rarely Reach Patients. The seminar will explore how promising biomarker discoveries can be translated into clinical practice and patient care, with a focus on scientific, clinical, regulatory and commercialisation challenges.
The seminar will examine the pathway of biomarkers from scientific discovery to practical application in healthcare. Participants will gain insights into European and Latvian experience in biomarker development, validation and implementation, and will discuss the scientific, clinical, regulatory and commercialisation challenges that influence the translation of biomarkers into clinical practice. Particular attention will be paid to the role of EATRIS in translational medicine and the support available to researchers to facilitate the transfer of scientific discoveries into healthcare.
EATRIS is the European research infrastructure for translational medicine, dedicated to advancing scientific discoveries towards practical applications in healthcare. The seminar will bring together researchers, clinicians and innovation professionals to discuss the challenges of biomarker development, validation and implementation, as well as opportunities to strengthen collaboration in translational medicine in Latvia and across Europe.
