Aim

The project aims to increase RSU's participation in international research projects by preparing at least 66 project proposals evaluated above the quality threshold in the Horizon Europe programme and upcoming 10th Framework Programme (FP10) and to strengthen participation in ERIC consortia and ESFRI platforms, including two new ones, thereby enhancing RSU’s scientific capacity and increasing Latvia’s visibility in the European Research Area.

Description

Within the project, support will be provided for the preparation of project proposals for Horizon Europe calls, with the goal of reaching 66 proposals evaluated above the quality threshold.

The project will implement three national partnership plans for participation in European research infrastructure consortia: EATRIS-ERIC (translational medicine), ELIXIR (life science data management), and SHARE-ERIC (public health and ageing). It is planned to involve at least 315 researchers from Latvian scientific institutions in capacity-building and collaboration activities, and to organise training and information events.

Special attention in the project will be given to the horizontal principles – equality, inclusion, and non-discrimination.

As a result of the project, RSUs and their Latvian partner organisations’ capacity to participate in international research will be strengthened, increasing the number of researchers and the quality of research outputs.

The project will support the goals of Latvia’s Smart Specialisation Strategy (RIS3) by developing research capacity in the fields of health and biotechnology, strengthening cooperation with international research infrastructures, and contributing to the development of Latvia’s RIS3 research and innovation ecosystem by enhancing bioinformatics resources – a crucial foundation for the growth of a knowledge-intensive bioeconomy.
