For Students
Sports

On 24 September, the new Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Sports Centre at 3 Cigoriņu iela hosted RSU Sports Day, bringing together more than 100 first-year students from all faculties. In ten teams, the students took on challenges testing their strength, agility, and problem-solving skills while getting to know their peers and exploring the new RSU Sports Centre.

Seven activity stations and a grand finale relay

After a group warm-up, the students headed to seven activity stations. Teams tested their running ability, accuracy and strength, demonstrated agility and ingenuity, and worked together to achieve the best possible result.

At the end of the day, the teams competed in a grand finale relay, with three teams racing at the same time. Alongside the sporting challenges, students also had the opportunity to take part in additional activities, including relaxation and attention training exercises, and explore the opportunities offered by the RSU Business Incubator.

Team Be Active claims victory

The team Be Active from the RSU Academy of Sport won RSU Sports Day. Its members were Ansis Šulmanis, Eduards Karpovs, Roberts Eglītis, Polīna Žiguļina, Marika Bumbiere, Alise Skuja, Monta Lūka, Ernesta Jasaite and Amanda Dūma.

The winners received RSU Sports Club memberships and sports bags, while the teams in second and third place were awarded sweatshirts and T-shirts.

An opportunity to compete and make connections

At the end of the day, students shared that they had enjoyed Sports Day for more than the thrill of competition; it had also given them a chance to get to know one another better, share a laugh and bond as a team.

‘It was a shared adventure where we got to know our fellow students, made new connections and had a great time. It will certainly help us feel like one team throughout our studies. More events like this, please!’

RSU Sports Day was organised by the RSU Sports Club in collaboration with the RSU Academy of Sport.
