On 4 May, the 35th anniversary of the restoration of the independence of the Republic of Latvia, the highest state awards were presented at Riga Castle. In accordance with the decisions of the President of Latvia and the Chapter of Orders on 24 March, these honours were awarded to individuals whose professional and social contributions are of particular national significance. Among the recipients were two lecturers from Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) and a member of the RSU Convention of Councillors, Māris Rēvalds.

Valda Staņēviča, Professor of the Department of Paediatrics at the RSU Faculty of Medicine and paediatric rheumatologist at the Children's Clinical University Hospital, has been appointed an Officer of the Order of the Three Stars.

Māris Rēvalds, Chairman of the Board of SIA Veselības centrs 4, RSU Honorary Doctor, and member of the Convention of Councillors, has been appointed Commander of the Cross of Recognition.

Prof. Anda Laķe (former Rector of LAC), Senior Lecturer at the RSU Department of Doctoral Studies, Vice-Rector for Research at the Latvian Academy of Culture (LAC), and Head of Institute of Arts and Cultural Studies, has been appointed Officer of the Cross of Recognition.
