Nearly 1,500 graduates to receive RSU diplomas this summer
Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), the reputation leader in Latvia’s higher education sector for the tenth consecutive year, is hosting its summer graduation ceremonies this week, with nearly 1,500 graduates receiving their diplomas, including 217 international students. These young professionals will continue their careers in medicine, healthcare, social sciences, entrepreneurship, sports and other sectors in Latvia and abroad.
During the graduation ceremonies, young professionals will be congratulated not only by RSU Rector Prof. Aigars Pētersons, Vice-Rectors and representatives of the faculty administrations, but also by Minister of Health Hosam Abu Meri, Minister of Foreign Affairs Baiba Braže, Minister of Justice Edvards Smiltēns, employer representatives and other guests.
The graduation series began on 16 June with a ceremony honouring the graduates of the RSU Liepāja Branch. On 17 June, diplomas will be awarded to the graduates of the RSU Faculty of Social Sciences. On the first graduation ceremony at 10:00, more than 170 graduates of the Multimedia Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, and International Relations study programmes will receive their diplomas. During the second ceremony at 14:00, another 190 young specialists in the Law, Protection of Economic Security, and International Marketing and Business Management will become RSU graduates.
On 18 June, diplomas will be awarded to 510 graduates from the RSU Faculty of Health and Sports Sciences. During the first part of the day, graduates of the Audio Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Nursing, Midwifery, and other healthcare programmes will receive their diplomas. In the afternoon, graduates of the Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, Health Psychology, and Health Management programmes will be honoured. At 17:30, the graduation ceremony for graduates of the RSU Latvian Academy of Sport Education will take place. This year, nearly 100 young sports specialists will graduate from RSU.
Three final graduation ceremonies are scheduled for 19 June. International students – future doctors and dentists – will receive their diplomas at 10:00, while 158 graduates of the Faculty of Medicine will be honoured at a ceremony at 14:00. Graduates of the Faculty of Dentistry and the Faculty of Pharmacy will be honoured at 17:30.

The RSU summer graduation ceremonies will take place in the university’s inner courtyard next to the Inspiration Park (16 Dzirciema iela), while the RSU Liepāja Branch graduation ceremony will be held in the Rose Hall of the Liepāja Olympic Centre (39 Brīvības iela). Graduates’ families, friends, and anyone else interested are invited to watch the ceremonies live on the RSU website.
