Professor Aigars Pētersons elected rector of RSU

On 9 November, at a meeting of the RSU Constitutional Assembly, elections were held for the new rector of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU). 118 members of the Constitutional Assembly voted in Professor Aigars Pētersons (pictured) as the new rector.

During the Constitutional Assembly 118 ballot papers were distributed, all of which were deemed valid on opening of the ballot box. 85 votes were cast for Professor Aigars Pētersons, while 33 members of the Constitutional Assembly voted for Professor Jānis Vētra.

The rector will take up his position after confirmation by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia.
