RSU Dataverse integrated into Latvian national repository DataverseLV
RSU Dataverse, the instutional research data repository of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), was established in 2019 as a secure digital site to store research data in long-term, as well as make it available for reuse and collaboration by other researchers and wider public. As part of the project “Support for the implementation of open science in practice, as well as created solutions for science data sharing and participation in the EU open science cloud”, RSU Dataverse has been integrated with the newly established Latvian national repository DataverseLV, implementing automatic fata harvesting, which increses the visibility and accessibillity of datasets.
Also in the project was developed the DataverseLV Research Data Management Guide, which includes information about open science, basic data management principles, as well as practical tips and links to in-depth resources.
RSU Dataverse provides:
- DOI identifiers. An official partnership with DataCite allows to assign a unique and permanent identifier to datasets, which improves their long-term accessibility and findability, as well as facilitates citation and integration with publications;
- International visibility. Repositories are included in the re3data.org registry of research data repositories and the OpenAIRE Explore search engine, which brings together more than 82 million datasets and many other research-related resources in one place. This increases their international visibility and improves the trustworthiness of the repository;
- Integration with the global Dataverse community. Both repositories have been accepted into the official repository installation list of the software developer – Harvard University's Dataverse Project, promoting international recognition and inclusion in the global Dataverse repository community.
RSU researchers are assisted in depositing data and using the repository by the RSU Data Curator Unit (mailto:datukuratori

The CoreTrustSeal certification process has now been started for both RSU Dataverse and DataverseLV. The certification confirms that the repository meets internationally recognized standards for reliable research data management and long-term preservation, ensuring data accessibility, understandability and reusability, as well as promoting research transparency, reproducibility and compliance with the FAIR principles.
We invite all researchers at RSU to use the RSU Dataverse platform for long-term preservation and publication of research data, strengthening the development of an open science culture in Latvia.
The project “Support for the implementation of open science in practice, as well as created solutions for science data sharing and participation in the EU open science cloud” (Nr. 2.1.3.1.i.0/2/23/I/CFLA/002) is funded with the support of the European Union Recovery Fund. The total funding of the project is EUR 3,575,279.40, of which EUR 3,444,000.00 is financed by the Recovery Fund and EUR 131,279.30 by the state budget.
