RSU International Student Conference in Health and Social Sciences opens
On 26 March, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) will host its 12th International Student Conference in Health and Social Sciences to be one of the largest student-organised international conferences in the Baltics and Northern Europe. Over the course of two days, the event will bring together nearly 5,000 students from 17 countries, highlighting RSU as a major centre for international academic collaboration.
The conference is organised by the RSU Student Union (SP, Studējošo pašpārvalde), involving local and international students from nearly all of the university’s faculties. Since the first conference in 2015, it has become an important platform for young researchers to present their work, discuss current topics, and build international connections.
RSU Rector Prof. Aigars Pētersons emphasises:
‘This conference clearly demonstrates that students today are already researchers and future professionals who will shape society.
At RSU, we believe that science must be closely connected to real life – it should help people live healthier, safer, and better lives. This conference is a place where ideas are born, collaborations are built, and the path towards meaningful solutions begins.’
Conference participants, research, and programme
This year, 504 research abstracts were submitted for the conference, and 397 presenters will share their work, including 122 students from 17 countries. The research papers will be evaluated by an international jury of 18 experts from eight countries.
The science programme of the conference covers a wide range of topics in medicine, health care, and social sciences. It will include 14 oral presentation sections in health care, nine poster sections, 10 case study sections, and one social sciences section. In addition, 26 practical workshops will be held, giving participants the opportunity to develop hands-on skills and gain interdisciplinary experience.
Competition in resuscitation simulation
The conference will also feature the Medical Wrestle competition in resuscitation simulation for the second time, where international teams will test their clinical skills, decision-making, and teamwork in simulated emergency scenarios.

The conference will take place both in person and online, ensuring broad accessibility for participants from different countries.
