For Students
Development

Starting this year, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) is offering students the opportunity to use classrooms for individual or group work at times when no classes or lectures are scheduled. As part of the pilot project, several classrooms will be opened, and more may follow. This has been decided in order to introduce new ways of supporting students in their studies. Students have many individual and group projects, as well as regular tests, for which they often have to prepare by working together.

The following classrooms will be available, excluding events that have already been scheduled, on weekdays and Saturdays from 7.00 to 22.00:

  • From 15 January, at 14 Baložu iela classrooms B-102, B-116, B-201, B-214, B-301;
  • From 20 January, at 16 Dzirciema iela, B Building, 4th floor classrooms B-401, B-402, B-404, B-405, B-406, B-409, B-411;
  • From 27 January, at 21 Konsula iela, 1st floor classrooms 103, 105, 107, 108, 109, 110.

From 20 January, room B-412 at 16 Dzirciema iela Building B and room A-102 at 9 Kuldīgas iela Building C will be available without prior reservation.

Zigmunds Zitmanis, Director of the RSU IT Department:

‘This pilot project was inspired by students from the Multimedia Communication programme at the Faculty of Social Sciences

who were already using specially equipped computers for term papers in computer rooms. This worked very well and we observed that the students exhibited care and a sense of responsibility for the equipment entrusted to them.’

Dainis Zemešs, Director of the RSU Department of Infrastructure: ‘The University has great infrastructure, and we see that we can make it even more accessible to students.

The pilot project opens up eight classrooms for students to use when they are not in lectures and classes. If demand is high and the cooperation is successful, we will expand the offer in the future.’

How does it work?

  • If the room is not occupied, then it is available immediately – enter it, using your ID card;
