RSU students receive Boris and Ināra Teterev Foundation scholarships

The Boris and Ināra Teterev Foundation scholarships in medicine have been ceremonially presented. This year, six Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) students from Jelgava, Preiļi, Kuldīga, Rēzekne, Cēsis, and Riga have joined the ranks of scholarship recipients. In total, 20 RSU students are receiving scholarships in medicine in the 2026/2027 academic year.
Congratulating the scholarship recipients, Patron Ināra Tetereva said:
‘The medical profession carries great responsibility towards patients and society as a whole. That is why a genuine desire to help is particularly important. Your excellent academic performance already demonstrates your enthusiasm for pursuing a career in medicine. I wish you continued perseverance and determination, as well as people around you who inspire and support you.’
Since 2011, the Boris and Ināra Teterev Foundation scholarships have been presented to 67 RSU undergraduate students from Faculties of Medicine, Health and Sports Sciences, Dentistry and Pharmacy. Of these, 47 scholarship recipients have already graduated from RSU.
The value of each scholarship in the 2026/2027 academic year is EUR 3,500.
Six future specialists have joined the ranks of scholarship recipients this year
This year’s scholarship recipients include Germans Lapšovs from Ludza, Dana Šēra from Liepāja, Lauma Skarbinīka from Rēzekne, Lauma Tumašova from Preiļi, Kristiāns Vištarts from Saldus, Iļja Zinovjevs from Ropaži, Elizabete Znotiņa from Jūrmala, Jūlija Bite, Valters Dumpis, Jānis Jurkāns, Anna Šermane, Daniils Trošins, Valters Vēģelis, Matīss Zicāns from Riga.
The six new scholarship recipients this year are Faculty of Dentistry students Rolāns Vozņesenskis from Jelgava and Laura Čerpakovska from Preiļi, Faculty of Health and Sports Sciences student Laine Porgaile from Kuldīga, and three Faculty of Medicine students – Sandis Bulduris from Rēzekne, Alise Karlīna Gārša from Cēsis and Aleksis Ķeviņš from Riga.

The scholarship was established by Boris Teterevs, a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine of Rīga Medical Institute (now RSU). He grew up and lived in Riga and worked as a doctor for nine years before embarking on a career in business. In 2010, together with his partner Ināra, he established a charitable foundation to support outstanding charitable initiatives that benefit society. As part of a long-term partnership, the Boris and Ināra Teterev Foundation’s scholarships in medicine are administered by the Vītols Foundation.
Foundation supports education and science
Education and science are among the key areas of activity of the Boris and Ināra Teterev Foundation. Over the years, the Foundation has supported the development of students and academic staff, the improvement of study programmes and scientific research. The Foundation’s support has covered education and projects in medicine, art and music, enabling future professionals to broaden their horizons.
