The Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) winter graduations took place on 11 February. 313 local and international students received their diplomas at the ceremony. Due to the current epidemiological restrictions, all ceremonies took place remotely, via Zoom, while students relatives and friends were able to watch via the RSU website.

This is the second year in a row that graduations took place online. This year, the students were addressed by RSU Rector, Professor Aigars Pētersons, as well as the former President of Latvia, RSU Honorary Doctor Valdis Zatlers, Minister for Interior Marija Golubeva, Chief of the State Police Armands Ruks, and RSU doctoral student and member of the Supervisory Board of the RB Rail JSC and Latvijas Pasts, Anrī Leimanis. The band Double Faced Eels performed after the ceremony.

The winter graduation consisted of three ceremonies. International graduates were up first followed by graduates from the Faculty of Rehabilitation and the Faculty of Public Health and Social Welfare, and the day ended with the ceremony for graduates from the Faculty of Communication, the Faculty of European Studies, and the Faculty of Law.

129 international students from 21 countries graduated this year, including 110 young medical practitioners and 17 dentists. The students come from Germany, the Scandinavian countries, Austria, France, Italy, Israel, Portugal, Switzerland, and others.

23 students from the study programmes Nutrition and Art Therapy graduated from the Faculty of Rehabilitation, and 49 young health sports specialists graduated from the Faculty of Public Health and Social Welfare in addition to eight social workers, one student graduating from the health management master’s programme, seven health psychologists, as well as eight health sports specialists from the RSU Liepāja branch.

The Faculty of Communication and the Faculty of European Studies closed out the winter graduation marathon with six social anthropologists, eight specialists in international marketing and business management, as well as nine specialists in international business and law. The winter graduation ended with the Faculty of Law, which awarded diplomas to 44 law graduates and 23 employees of the internal affairs system, mostly police officers, who studied in the RSU Police Work programme.
