Objective

To acquire different approaches to ethical problem solving in research, to form a reasoned opinion and attitudes in key ethical issues of research.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

On completion of the study course the students will be able to distinguish between ethics committees and ethics commissions; they will know the basic claims of the Declaration of Helsinki; they will define the informed consent, interpret ethical arguments, concerns and comments used within the context of biomedical research.

Skills

The students will be able to assess ethical issues in the publication process of research results and to analyse specific cases in research.

Competence

Cognitive competence in forming a reasoned opinion.
