Objective

1. To promote deeper knowledge of plant diversity and its systematic relation.
2. To promote awareness of the practical use of herbal agents in medicine and pharmacy.

Prerequisites

General knowledge in biology and Latin.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to:
• arrange the representatives of the vegetation in the systematic classification;
• characterise the diversity of flowering plants and peculiarities of their structure;
• outline possibilities for practical use of flowering plants.

Skills

1.On successful completion of the study course students will be able to:
• evaluate plant diversity;
• locate and explain the location of the seeds in the systematic classification;
• recognise and characterise various medicinal, food, technical and ornamental plants, describe their use in medicine and pharmacy.

Competence

1.Upon successful completion of the course students will understand the arrangement of flowering plants within the systematic classification and will be able to apply the acquired knowledge on plant diversity and use in practice.
