Objective

To introduce students to philosophical accounts of human nature and its multiple manifestations, as well as with main existential issues and their various possible solutions.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

To learn the definition of philosophical anthropology, to identify the most important philosophical accounts of human nature.

Skills

To analyse the concept of consciousness and unconsciousness; evaluate the problems of identity and values in consumer society; integrate the concept of life and the definitions of clinical and biological death; different historical attitudes toward death in Western culture and the biopsychosocial context of euthanasia and suicide.

Competence

To understand differences between historical periods in philosophical anthropology; to interpret the main existential issues and their solutions.
