Objective

Provide theoretical knowledge and practical skills in assessment of the general condition for patients with gastroenterological, endocrinological and liver diseases. To determine diagnosis and treatment processes, provide care planning and evaluation of achieved care outcomes.

Prerequisites

Anatomy, Microbiology with virology and parasitology, Functional physiology, Propaedeutics, Clinical care, Medical biochemistry, General pathology, Pathological physiology, Pathological anatomy, Internal medicine and patient care, Pharmacology, Public health and epidemiology, Clinical pharmacology and medicine.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Students will know the characteristics of endocrinological and gastroenterological diseases, etiological and pathogenetic factors, symptoms of diseases. Will know the main diagnostic methods of diseases used in gastroenterology and endocrinology and the principles of patient preparation before the examination. Students will know the methods used in patient education in the case of chronic diseases. Will know the symptoms of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia, the early and late complications of diabetes, and the principles of foot care for diabetic patients.

Skills

1.Students will be able to assess the general health of patients and identify disorders. Will be able to prepare patients for visual diagnostics and laboratory examination. Will be able to identify and prevent the symptoms of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia. Students will be able to apply educational methods to provide special care for patients' self-care needs. Will be able to identify patient care needs, their priorities. Will be able to perform general and specific patient care.

Competence

1.Provide a patient care process for patients with gastroenterological, endocrinological and liver diseases based on recent research evidence.
