Objective

To provide the theoretical and practical knowledge in pediatrics and neonatology, that is necessary for work in a multidisciplinary pediatrician, neonatologist, and pediatric surgeon team. To recognize and timely diagnose acute and emergency situations of various organ systems for newborns and children of different ages.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.- Emergency condition assessment and treatment plan drafting in neonatology and pediatrics;
- Examination and treatment plan drafting for patients before planned operations for various organ system pathologies;
- Examination and treatment plan drafting for patients’ post-surgical treatment of various organ system pathologies;
- Recognition of emergency conditions in neonatology and pediatrics.
To learn:
• Theoretical knowledge about normal physiology of the organism for neonates and children of all ages
• Theoretical knowledge about the organism’s reactions in cases of pathology in regards to neonates and children of all ages
• Management and basic principles of diagnostics of emergency situations in neonatology and pediatrics
• Management and basic principles of diagnostics of chronic illness in neonatology and pediatrics
• Master early diagnostic and treatment principles for various organ system anomalies.

Skills

1.- To provide qualified emergency diagnostics and assistance to patients of various ages with various organ system illnesses and pathological conditions;
- The ability to establish adequate therapy for patients of various ages before planned and emergency surgical treatment;
- To draw up a treatment plan for post-surgical treated patients of various ages.

Competence

1.- To provide initial and emergency assistance for neonatal and pediatric patients (with or without concomitant illnesses).
