About Study Course
Objective
To provide theoretical knowledge and practical skills and improve them in order to prepare the doctor for certification in the speciality of paediatric onco-haematology in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Republic of Latvia.
Learning outcomes
1.Demonstrates profound and extended knowledge and understanding of medicine in general, but in the speciality of a paediatric haemato-oncologist he/she meets the requirements of the speciality and is in the forefront of the science and the professional area, which lays foundations for creative thinking in the clinical practice and in part also in research, as well as the ability to act in interdisciplinary communication.
1.Independently uses medical problem solution skills to fulfil functions of a highly qualified specialist in prevention, diagnostics, treatment of diseases, care, skilfully performs practical manipulations, and is able to work in a health care organisation, as well as education and research. A skill has been mastered to comprehensively examine children with different haematological and oncological diseases, to perform differential diagnostics, including morphological, to perform specific manipulations in paediatric onco-haematology, to treat children with haematological and oncological diseases in modern ways, during work to create skills for independent development, to have good communication with different patients, their parents, team colleagues, to gain pedagogical and research work experience, to master work organisation skills. Independently plans and organises improvement and development of doctor's specialist professional competence; undertakes responsibility for work results of personnel groups and their analysis; is able to do business, innovations in the respective doctor’s speciality; knows how to provide emergency medical assistance, is able to perform work, further learning or research in complicated and unpredictable conditions and, to transform it using new approaches, when needed.
1.Independently practising, competent, qualified paediatric haemato-oncologist with high level of knowledge, skills, communication, mastering and application.
