Parasitology (RLA_006)
About Study Course
Objective
To prepare laboratory doctors capable of performing a large spectrum of parasitological examinations, to diagnose parasitoses and to be able to classify human parasites. To use macroscopic, microscopic and immunochemical methods for diagnostics of parasitoses. To apply examination algorithms and to interpret the obtained results. To master internal and external quality control principles of parasitological examination methods.
Learning outcomes
1.- to describe peculiarities of examination methods of intestinal protozoasis;
- to evaluate advantages of immunochemical methods of parasitoses;
- to characterise the morphological structure of helminth infestation agents;
- to evaluate the algorithm of examination of AIDS-related parasitoses;
- to describe laboratory diagnostics of tropical parasitoses.
1.- to perform diagnostics of parasitoses, to choose the most appropriate examination method;
- to prepare a thick-blood film;
- to perform macroscopic identification of parasites and their fragments;
- to perform microscopic examination of parasite eggs;
- to conduct the examination algorithm of diagnostics and differential diagnostics of malaria.
1.To conduct diagnostic examinations of human biological material (faeces, sputum, blood) for diagnosis of parasitoses; to classify groups of parasitosis agents, to perform differential diagnostics of parasitosis; to interpret results, to recommend further examination activity to clinicians.
