Objective

To provide the basic competence necessary for doctors - oral, facial and jaw surgery specialists:
• in the pathophysiology of TML disorders, differential diagnosis, diagnosis, following protocols of clinical examination and auxiliary examinations;
• in the application of conservative therapy;
• for the rationale and indications of surgical treatment methods, work independently, refer the patient.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Resident will be able to:
• explain the biology, anatomy, pathophysiology of TMJ;
• classify findings according to the terminology;
• use the findings in the differential diagnosis;
• justify the possible treatment.

Skills

1.Will be able to collect a detailed medical history and to conduct investigations for patients with orofacial pain and similar disorders.
• To perform the head and neck physical examination.
• To perform muscle investigation.
• To perform TML investigation.
• To perform neurovascular and motor function assessment "at the bedside / chair".
• To use visual analogue scale (VAS).
• To define indications for additional tests.
• To exclude other causes of pain and dysfunction.
• To perform a diagnostic blockade.

Competence

1.• Able to assess and explain the clinical examination findings.
• Is able to correctly select the methods of diagnosis, evaluate the collected data.
• Formulate dg. according to the classifications.
• Assess their ability to cooperate with other professionals.
• Understand empathy and ethical aspects of working with this group of patients.
