Objective

To provide knowledge about the legal aspects of healthcare digital transformation and personal data protection requirements, to understand and solve the legal challenges of patient data processing in the context of digital transformation of health care.

Prerequisites

Prior knowledge of civil law, human rights and administrative law is desirable.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Upon successful completion of the study course, students will acquire knowledge in the following areas:
• Basic knowledge of personal and patient data protection.
• Be familiar with the personal and patient data regulatory base, typical problems and the tactics for solving them.
• Understand the specifics of patient data digital processing, as well as the legal challenges that arise in the context of health data digitalization.
• Know the terminology and meaning of data protection in e-health systems.
• Know the legal challenges in the context of digital transformation of health care.

Skills

1.Students will acquire the skills to:
• Understand and be able to navigate the regulatory base of personal data protection.
• Analyze legal issues in the context of digital health implementation.
• Assess the legal risks of implementing digital health programs
• Recognize and characterize the regularities between the legal framework and implementation of digital solutions.
• Identify and solve practical problems arising from the implementation of digitization.

Competence

1.Students will acquire competencies:
• To apply the regulatory framework for personal and patient data protection.
• To carry out an assessment of the legal risks of processing and storing digital health data of patients and the development of a mitigation plan in the context of digital transformation programs, both at the level of the healthcare sector and companies.
