Objective

The aim of the study course is to deepen students’ knowledge of theoretical approaches, methods and basic principles of process organisation of visual art therapy, as well as to develop skills and competences to develop and apply art therapy strategies, define objectives and objectives, conduct separate examination periods and critically reflect on professional activities for different client/patient groups in the healthcare environment.

Prerequisites

Professional Activity in Art Therapy and its Legal Foundations; Principles and Process of Assessment in Art Therapy; Psychology of Personality and Development; Individual Counselling in Art Therapy and Psychodynamics; Visual Plastic Art Therapy I.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Student: explain the theoretical justification for the various methods and techniques of visual art therapy (VMT); understands different VMT theoretical approaches to dealing with customer/patient groups in different environments; identify and justify the basic principles for the organisation of the art therapy process, their formation and adaptation according to a particular client/patient group or disorder; is familiar with the nature of intervention and organisation for work in different practices/workplaces in healthcare.

Skills

1.Student: identify and formulate the objectives and tasks of art therapy appropriate to the client/patient group; select appropriate theoretical approaches and develop an art therapy strategy, taking into account group specificity, age and potential risks; appropriate VMT methods, techniques and interventions shall be used in accordance with the specified objectives; analyse and evaluate the art therapy process and results; document examination periods by drawing up minutes.

Competence

1.Student: apply the basic principles, methods, techniques and interventions of the VMT independently, linking them to the defined objectives and client/patient needs; organise and manage individual art therapy examination periods individually and in a group in the form of a simulation game, analyse their structure, content and therapeutic relationships, assess the results; be able to critically evaluate their professional activities by recognising limitations and development possibilities; performs regular self-reflection, linking it to professional development.
