RSU and RSU LASE staff and students are invited to go on a summer hike along the Garezeri lakes to the sea: Lilaste → Gauja River mouth and back (~14 km).

When and where?
Difficulty level: Easy (suitable for anyone)
Estimated time: 3-4 hours with breaks
Date: 7 June, 10:30 (arrival and start in Lilaste)
Route
10:30 – Arrival and start in Lilaste
- Arrival
- If travelling by personal transport:
- Park at the Lilaste railway station car park (on the opposite side of the tracks).
- If travelling by personal transport:
- Start of the walk
- Climb a small dune to view the Lilaste dune from above.
- Continue walking through the pine forest towards the Garezeri lakes.
- Midway points
- Reach the Garezeri lakes and continue along the route.
- Around 11:45 – snack break in a sunny spot; swimming may be possible.
- Next stage
- Reach the southern tip of the Garezeri lakes.
- Cross the dirt road and follow a forest trail leading to the point where the Gauja River flows into the sea.
- Seaside
- Arrive at the sea.
- Take a break on the seashore (if needed).
- Return
- Walk back to Lilaste along the beach (~4 km).
What to pack
- Windbreaker with hood (the wind by the sea can be strong even in warm weather)
- Water, snacks
- Shoes with which you can walk on the sand (or barefoot!)
