Professor Aigars Pētersons thanks the RSU community for contributing to the university’s growth

This year, we are celebrating the 75th anniversary of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) – a significant milestone in the university's story. Over the years, our university has become one of the drivers of Latvia's growth, providing high-quality knowledge and skills and developing values for a better future.

‘Students, staff, researchers, our dear employees, partners, graduates, ladies and gentlemen, this year is a special year for Rīga Stradiņš University – we are celebrating our 75th anniversary. This long period has been marked by growth, courage, and responsibility, because 75 years ago, RSU, then known as the Riga Medical Institute, was established as a small medical college. 

Over the years, we have grown into an open, modern European research university with more than 60 study programmes. With more than 12,000 students, we are the third largest university in Latvia, and at the same time we are the leaders in higher education exports in the Baltic States and the Nordic countries. We bring education to Latvia, we bring education to Europe and the world.

Today, I would like to express my immense gratitude to all of you who are and have been part of this journey of growth and development!’ says Rector Prof. Aigars Pētersons in his speech.
