We invite a strategically minded, energetic, competent, and result-oriented Vice-Rector for Studies to join our senior management team, with responsibility for the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Health and Sports Sciences, Latvian Academy of Sports Education, Academic Affairs Department, Study Quality Department, Residency Department, Medical Education Technology Centre, Centre for Educational Growth, Innovation Centre, Lifelong learning Centre.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS EXPECTED

  • Doctoral degree
  • At least six years of experience in academic work
  • At least four years of experience in a managerial position (leading an organisation or a large organisational unit, including experience managing a unit or organisation with at least 50 employees, as well as experience in financial management, budgeting and control, process management, and project management
  • Internationally recognised scholarly contribution and impact in the professional field
  • Internationally recognised research activities (scientific publications published in international peer-reviewed journals in the last 5 years)
  • Knowledge of the legislation governing higher education institutions
  • Strategic thinking, ability to set and implement priorities
  • Excellent knowledge of Latvian (C1) and English at least at B2 .2 level (according to the Europass self-assessment table)
  • Excellent time management, communication, reasoning, and collaboration skills, including experience working with international partners
  • Impeccable professional reputation
     

Responsibilities

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and develop the areas of RSU studies and innovation in accordance with the university’s development strategy
  • In collaboration with the university’s leadership, define the university’s academic activities, study and innovation objectives, performance indicators, and ensure their achievement
  • Oversee and ensure the development, licensing, accreditation, quality, sustainability, and competitiveness of study and lifelong learning programmes
  • In collaboration with the Vice-Rector for Science, develop study programmes founded on interdisciplinary research
  • Ensure the implementation of modern practices in academic work and the study process, including simulation, artificial intelligence, and digital solutions
  • On a daily basis oversee and ensure effective cooperation with healthcare institutions in Latvia
  • Ensure collaboration with domestic and international partners, as well as promote the involvement of industry and employers in the study process and the funding of programmes
  • Oversee and coordinate the strategic and operational activities of subordinate units, ensuring their effective collaboration
  • Within the scope of the position’s responsibilities, represent RSU at national and international level 
  • This position entails the status of a civil servant, in accordance with the provisions of the Law “On Prevention of Conflict of Interest in Activities of Public Officials”.
