The Rīgas Stradiņš University student team TALLY won second place at the student entrepreneurship forum Impact Pitch Arena 2026 by presenting a digital solution aimed at improving the monitoring of medication side effects. In total, RSU was represented by three teams developing their business ideas within the incubation programme of the RSU business incubator B-Space.

Impact Pitch Arena 2026 brought together high-potential student teams from Latvia’s leading universities, providing young innovators with the opportunity to present their ideas to an international audience of entrepreneurs, investors, and industry experts, as well as compete for cash prizes. The event took place as part of the leading Baltic deep-tech conference Deep Tech Atelier.

During the event, a total of eight student teams presented their business ideas in a short pitch format. Each team had three minutes to present its idea, followed by a question-and-answer session with the jury. Participants were evaluated based on several criteria, including the relevance of the problem addressed, the viability of the business model, the level of innovation, presentation quality, and team collaboration.

According to the jury’s evaluation, first place was awarded to the University of Latvia team Spruceful, second place to the RSU team TALLY, and third place to the University of Latvia team Dubra Solutions.

TALLY – an application for monitoring medication side effects

As part of the incubation programme, the TALLY team is developing a mobile application designed to improve pharmacovigilance by enabling patients to easily track medications they use and monitor experienced side effects. The application functions as a symptom diary and support tool while also providing personalised information about symptoms, potential drug interactions, treatment purposes, and medication safety.

If users choose to report observed side effects, the application helps structure the information in a format aligned with regulatory requirements, allowing reports to be submitted to the State Agency of Medicines. This contributes to the availability of high-quality data for medication safety monitoring and timely decision-making in the protection of public health.

Solutions for patients and equestrians

The RSU B-Space incubation teams Encanto Equestrian and Medrix also presented their ideas at the competition. The Encanto Equestrian team is developing an AI-supported training system for equestrians that uses video cameras to follow athletes during training sessions, record sessions, and provide remote feedback from coaches. The aim of the solution is to improve access to high-quality training in locations where athletes have limited access to professional coaches.

Meanwhile, the Medrix team is developing a digital solution to improve access to medication package leaflets for patients. Medication users whose visual impairments or language barriers make reading printed instructions difficult are invited to scan the code on medication packaging and access the leaflet in a digital format. The solution includes the possibility to play instructions in audio format, adjust text size, and in the future provide translations into the user’s preferred language.
