Objective

To promote the acquisition of theoretical knowledge about the most common internal and infectious diseases, their aetiology, clinical manifestations, possible diagnostics and treatment, as well as prevention. To promote understanding of the multiple causes of individual symptoms, differential diagnosis of these conditions.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of human anatomy and biology.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Students will gain advanced knowledge, will describe and characterize the most common internal and infectious diseases, their aetiology, clinical phenomena, diagnostic possibilities; understand and explain the principles of symptomatic and etiological therapy.

Skills

Students will be able to independently prepare a data analysis plan, taking into account the history, course, laboratory tests and other data of the most common internal and infectious diseases.

Competence

To apply knowledge of argumentation, logic and rhetoric to analyse and to assess clinical situations in internal medicine, as well as to reasoned one’s opinion about them. When faced with patient data, the student is able to professionally plan the design of the study and interpret the obtained statistical results, taking into account the aetiology and course of the disease.
