The consolidation of RSU and LASE is progressing well

By a decision of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Latvian Academy of Sport Education (LASE) was integrated into Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) on 1 July this year, while maintaining its identity and academic and scientific independence. After the integration, the name of the Academy is the RSU Latvian Academy of Sport Education (RSU LASE), and its Acting Director is Assoc. Prof. Kalvis Ciekurs (formerly the Rector of LASE).

Annual RSU Academic Ball celebrated with celestial elegance

On Saturday, 7 September, staff, students, and special guests of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) celebrated the University's academic traditions and achievements at the traditional Academic Ball at the Riga Latvian Society House. The official part of the event included the presentation of the RSU Annual Awards and the Alumni Association Award.

Aicinām izvirzīt pretendentus RSU Senāta vēlēšanām

On 3 September 2024, the RSU Constitutional Assembly approved the Regulation for the Preparation and Conduct of the 2024 RSU Senate* Elections. We invite all RSU colleagues to take an active part in nominating candidates for the Senate and to follow the nomination process set out in the regulations.

New exhibition on the development of rehabilitation education at Rīga Stradiņš University

An exhibition on the development of rehabilitation studies at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) is on display in the RSU History Museum's display cases outside the Great Hall (16 Dzirciema iela) until 20 December. 

The exhibition presents the development of rehabilitation study programmes at RSU in chronological order. The main element of the exhibition is a timeline of facts in the field of rehabilitation from 1950 to the present.

Today, 6 September, marks the 103rd anniversary of the founding of Latvia's first higher education institution in the field of sports, what is today known as the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Latvian Academy of Sport Education (LASE). Over the years, the university has grown and developed along with the Latvian state, contributing significantly to shaping the country's sports life.

RSU Anatomy Museum

A new exhibition, Professor Hochstetter's Anatomical Cabinet, opened to visitors at the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Anatomy Museum on 5 September. This exhibition features historical anatomical specimens created between the late 18th century and the early 20th century. This valuable collection was donated to RSU in 2021 by Swiss anatomist and anatomy historian, Oscar Baldomero.

Fermentation process

Kārlis Langins is an economist and statistician by profession, who has swapped his previously monotonous work routine for a new challenge. It combines both passion and innovative entrepreneurship: numbers have been replaced by the world of food. With the support of the B-Space Business Incubator at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), he has developed a new food product from grey peas.

Langins’ road to success began with baking bread and learning the art of cooking, and has continued by collaborating with leading Latvian microbiologists.
