Adolescents can develop various psychiatric (emotional or behavioural) disorders. This has been a significant public health problem globally and in Latvia for several decades. If these disorders are not promptly recognised and treated, they can lead to serious health and well-being problems in adulthood. In order to successfully recognise and prevent adolescent mental health problems, it is important to understand what factors influence their occurrence.

B-Space to celebrate final event of its incubation programme INK

On Friday, 14 June, the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Innovation Centre’s B-Space business incubator invites everyone to the final event of its incubation programme INK – Demo Day.

Over more than nine months, interdisciplinary teams in the INK programme have developed their ideas across a variety of sectors. The INK programme offers new startup entrepreneurs the opportunity to work on their ideas by participating in various business-related lectures, collaborating with mentors, and taking advantage of other opportunities offered by B-Space.

Travelling exhibition Research Latvia 2024 on display at RSU

The travelling exhibition Research Latvia 2024, created by the Ministry of Education and Science (MoES), continues to inspire with stories about 12 Latvian researchers. On 3 – 16 June, everyone is welcome to take a closer look at the researchers’ achievements in various fields of science and read their messages in the lobby of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) at 16 Dzirciema iela.

On Thursday, 6 June, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) hosted the only medical law conference in Latvia for the fourth year in a row. More than 700 participants attended the event. The aim of the conference was not only to highlight challenges in the field of medical law and the relationship between patients and medical practitioners but also provide solutions to the issues discussed.

Oļegs Černiševs will defend his doctoral dissertation on Monday, 8 July at 14:00 in an online open meeting of the RSU Economics and Business doctoral committee. His dissertation is titled Regional Dimension in European Union: Shaping Key Performance Indicators for Financial Institutions.

RSU awards world-renowned paediatric surgeon Amulya Kumar Saxena with Honorary Doctorate

On 28 May, Prof. Amulya Kumar Saxena was conferred the title of Honorary Doctor of Medicine in the Senate Hall of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU).

‘Your children are just as important as our children. If we can have the same Iphones, then we should also have the same opportunities for treating children. I urge everyone to remember that there are difficulties everywhere, including in the countries where I work, but they must be overcome and not accepted. I am honoured to receive this title,’ Prof. Saxena said in his inaugural speech.

RSU invites staff from RSU and LASE to celebrate Midsummer on 18 June

The traditional Midsummer celebrations at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) will take place on Tuesday, 18 June, at 15.00 in Inspiration Park, or in the cafeteria in case of rain. Staff will be able to enjoy a performance by the band Viedais Fonogrāfs, celebrate all employees named Jānis and Līga, participate in a bread-making masterclass, and enjoy seasonal refreshments. Colleagues from the Latvian Academy of Sport Education (LASE) are warmly welcome to join the celebration.
