In June, Māris Andžāns, an associate professor at the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Faculty of Social Sciences, returned from a semester at the prestigious Harvard University. This was an intense trip, as it included conducting research and writing publications.
The traditional Academic Meeting of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) was held on 19 September in the Great Hall. Rector Prof. Aigars Pētersons opened the meeting with a presentation of the University’s achievements and future challenges, thanking the staff for their hard work and acknowledging that we all ‘work like lions’ to achieve excellent results.
The VIRCAN2024 Conference, “Chronic viral infections and cancer, openings for vaccines and cure”, will take place online on 21–22 November 2024.

Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) has established an External Advisory Board consisting of renowned scientists and science administrators from Europe and the US. Initiating this board is a strategically important step in RSU's journey towards scientific excellence.
On 17 September, a large delegation from the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) in Kaunas visited Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU). During the visit, the management of the two universities signed a strategic cooperation agreement focusing on the development of medical technology and educational innovations, military medicine research, and the improvement of simulation-based training.
On 23 September 2024 at 15.00, the guest lecture 'Roadmap to Success' by Prof. Barry Franklin (US) will take place at the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Medical Education Technology Centre (METC). Prof. Franklin will share insights from his course 'GPS to Success' (Central Michigan University) and his book of the same title, published in 2022.

Breast and ovarian cancers are among the most common malignancies in women, posing a significant healthcare challenge both in Latvia and worldwide. Every year, around 1,200 new cases of breast cancer and 300 cases of ovarian cancer are diagnosed in our country.
