On Friday, 31 March, at 14:00, the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Pharmaceutical Education and Research Centre will be officially opened in Riga, at 21 Konsula iela. The new building complements the RSU campus in Pārdaugava and is the largest and most technically complex building in the University’s 70-year history.
‘This is not just a new building.
It is a state-of-the-art, world-class science hub to concentrate our knowledge and new pharmaceutical technologies that would help develop innovative solutions and create new dosage forms.

The biggest research event of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), RSU Research Week, marks the beginning of Open Science Month at the RSU Anatomy Museum. The exhibition Viewpoints: On Illusions, Perception and Why We See the World Differently will open on 30 March and run to 30 April. Optical illusions created by Italian scientist Baingio Pinna and Japanese scientist Akiyoshi Kitaoka will be on display, and guests will be able to attend popular science lectures and workshops on topics related to illusions, perception, and why we each see the world differently.
The aim of the Design Thinking Workshop is to generate at least two project ideas by identifying possible project themes and objectives, stakeholders with the capacity to implement the projects, activities to be carried out to achieve the set objective using design thinking methods. At the same time, the workshop will outline the financial resources needed to implement such ideas, as well as explore the current situation relevant to the project topic, possible obstacles, and opportunities to implement such projects.
Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Research Week 2023 started on Monday 27 March. The series of five international conferences, gathering researchers from all over the world, opened with the 9th International Student Conference Health and Social Sciences (ISC2023). The student conference covered global trends in medicine and healthcare, as well as public health and social sciences.
Next week, from 27 to 31 March, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) will host the international Research Week (RW2023) dedicated to health care, medicine, public health, and social sciences. The innovation section will include discussions on digital technologies in health, precision medicine, and telemedicine.
The international conference Modern Management of Severe Orthopaedic Injuries in War, Mass Casualty Situations, and Humanitarian Disasters will be held as a satellite conference to the most important scientific event organised by Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) – RSU Research Week 2023. The satellite conference will take place on 31 March. Leading traumatologists-orthopaedists, vascular surgeons, and microsurgeons from Latvia, Israel, Lithuania, the USA, the Netherlands, and Sweden will give lectures and conduct practical sessions at the conference.
The 2nd conference of the World Society for Virology (WSV2023) will be held on 15-17 June at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU). The programme will include special symposia on viral pandemic threats, as well as sessions on various disciplines of virology, including One Health, human, animal, plant, fungal and bacterial viruses, clinical and applied virology, and basic science.
The final sessions will be based on the abstracts that are submitted.
