Open University for Transfer Students

Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Open University allows transfer students to take courses that are required for studying at RSU in different semesters according to the Compatibility Report and Individual Plan.

Application process

To apply to study courses at RSU Open University, please observe the following procedure:

1. Submit your application
   1. Send us the “Compatibility report and individual plan” document to our e-mail aursu[pnkts]lv and mention which courses you want to take via Open University in the autumn semester parallell to your regular study programme. The places in the courses are limited, meaning that you might not be approved for all your chosen courses. The maximum credit points in one semester are 20 Latvian credit points / 30 ECTS.
   2. The tuition fee for a course is calculated by multiplying the amount of credit points with the rate of a single credit point (the rate of a single credit point in the Medicine programme is 359 EUR and 419 EUR in the Dentistry programme).
   3. Open University courses need to be taken in chronological order. If you are a 5th-semester student in your regular studies who has to study courses from the 1st to the 4th semester, then initially you can apply for 1st semester courses in Open University. When the 1st semester courses are completed you can apply for the 2nd semester courses e.t.c. 
2. Receive an answer
   We will send you an answer within one week about the possibility of joining your chosen courses. Course timetables will be available on the RSU homepage 10 days before the start of semester.
3. Send your answer
   You must give Open University the answer about the possibility to take study courses in Open University together with your regular study programme, according to the timetables.
4. Sign the contract
   After receiving your notification, you must sign a contract with Open University.
5. Pay tuition fee
   Pay the tuition fee when you receive an invoice. Open University will then give you access to e-studies in the study courses you have chosen.
6. Notify your teacher
   At the first class, notify your teacher that you applied to the course through the Open University.
7. Complete a course
   After completing the study course, you have to submit the application form titled "Comparison and validation of learning outcomes", which you can find on the Application Forms page on Student Services. Send it to your contact person through your MyRSU profile. Afterwards your faculty will transfer the credit points to your regular study programme.
