INFORMATION CENTRE

The Student Services at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) is a structural unit of the university, which is committed to assisting current and prospective students with their academic and everyday needs, advising them on the study process, providing general information about RSU structural units, their location, working hours and contact information. Students seeking more information or wishing to make appointments may do so in person, by phone, or by email.

All applications referred to above should preferably be submitted to Student Services in person. If it is not stated as mandatory requirement, it can also be sent electronically from your RSU e-mail account to the Student Services e-mail: studentuservissatrsu[pnkts]lv.

Student identity card

RSU provides identification cards for all students. Student Services are in charge of issuing and renewal of RSU identity cards.

All RSU students are required to carry the student identity card with them and to present a valid RSU student identity card to be able to receive:

  • the services provided by Student Services;
  • the services provided by RSU Library
  • an electronic ticket for public transport in Riga with a 50% discount (full time students only).

Any RSU structural unit may ask the student to present a valid RSU student identity card.

E-account

On commencing studies at RSU, every student has to go to Student Services to receive a unique username to access the student portal Universum. To generate or reset a password for RSU IT systems use the Self Service tool.

The RSU student portal Universum contains information and services related to studies and the study process and provides access to different services provided by the university: schedules of classes, e-courses with study materials (e-studies), records of video lectures, assessments, application forms, information on scholarships, information on grants, a student’s private e-mail account, print management (printing, scanning, copying), questionnaires about study courses, descriptions of study courses, application for student status letter, access to documents regulating studies (internal and external regulatory enactments), online databases, latest information on student life, free Microsoft Office software.

RSU provides access to a safe wireless network Eduroam WiFi. Students may connect to the Eduroam wireless network using their username and password. Eduroam is available in 36 European countries, as well as in Australia, the USA and Canada. In Latvia Eduroam is available at RSU, the University of Latvia and Riga Technical University.

Transcript of records

Student Services release transcripts of academic records containing information on study courses completed by the student by year and semester, detailing the following information: name of the study course, credit points awarded and assessment received. The transcript of records may be issued for the entire period of studies or regarding one or several study semesters. 

You can apply for a transcript of records: 

  1.  at Student Services by presenting a valid RSU student identity card;
  2. by filling in the Transcript Request Form and by sending it from the student’s official RSU e-mail (xxxxxxatrsu[pnkts]edu[pnkts]lv) to the Student Services e-mail: studentuservissatrsu[pnkts]lv;
  3. by filling in the Transcript Request Form at the RSU Information Centre and by sending it to Student Services by e-mail: studentuservissatrsu[pnkts]lv.

The transcript of records will be prepared within three working days, but in June, July, January and February – within 20 working days.

References and certificates

Student Services also issues official certificates and letters for state authorities and public institutions, to name: the State Revenue Service, the State Social Insurance Agency, SIA Rīgas satiksme, banks etc.

You can apply for an official certificate or reference by completing the online request form and by sending it to studentuservissatrsu[pnkts]lv (Student Services) (studentuservissatrsu[pnkts]lv) from your official RSU e-mail account (example: 012345atrsu[pnkts]edu[pnkts]lv) or complete the electronic request form in the Student Portal.

The reference will be usually issued within three working days following receipt of the request. You will receive an email confirming that the reference is ready for pick up at the RSU Information Centre (1st Floor, 16 Dzirciema iela, Riga in the hall) by presenting a valid RSU student identity card or any other personal identification document. If the reference is not collected within a month’s time, it will be destroyed.

The request form can also be filled in at the RSU Information Centre.

At Student Services you can:

  • receive a student identity card;
  • take a photo for the student identity card;
  • receive a username and password for the Student Portal;
  • request and receive a certificate of status, a certificate of achievements and other study-related information in Latvian and English;
  • fill in and submit applications;
  • enquire about different study-related issues, including study loans, scholarships, schedules, study rooms and time of lectures;
  • apply for a study and student loan;
  • enquire about tuition fee discounts;
  • receive certified copies of original RSU documents with the seal of Student Services and the signature of a specialist, for example, a copy of the diploma, transcript of records, etc.;
  • receive general information about important events at RSU.
