Objective

Develop deep understanding and practical skills for students in developing therapeutic relationships with children and their parents in a dental context to promote children’s psychoemotional comfort, reduce fear of treatment and improve treatment outcomes.

Prerequisites

Anatomy, embryology, physiology, internal disease basics, paediatric basics, psychiatric basics.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Knowledge of personal development, importance of child-parent relationships, psychosomatic disorders in children’s dentistry, theoretical aspects of doctor-patient relationships in working with children, knowledge of working with children with special needs.

Skills

1.First contact with the patient-child and his or her parent.
Use of toy elements in working with children.

Competence

1.Interpret functional and dysfunctional processes within the family, interpret the concepts of child psychoemotional development.
