Objective

To provide the medical resident with an understanding of emergency medicine methods in the pre- and hospital phases.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.To describe the objective, tasks, structure of the Emergency Medical Service;
To substantiate the steps of the resuscitation algorithms;
To describe the plan for the pre- and early hospital phase of a polytrauma patient;
To describe the plan for the pre- and early hospital phase of a shock patient.

Skills

1.To fill in the relevant documentation correctly.
To ensure airway patency using manual and instrumental methods.

Competence

1.At the end of the study courses, the medical resident is proficient in the most important methods of emergency medicine, able to make informed decisions to optimise the patient’s condition in the pre- and early hospital phase.
